We Moved! | Personal

Well, life has been a little - scratch that, a LOT crazy lately. We just moved our house and I'm sitting here typing with boxes and bags and tons of stuff surrounding me. The moving process is hard, y'all! But since most of you had no idea this even happened, let me back up and tell you the whole story.

In August of 2014 Nathan and I put our house on the market. I can't believe it's been that long, but it truly has. We had a number of reasons for wanting to sell, none of which had to do with the house - we truly loved where we lived and enjoyed how nice it was (especially for a first home). But we knew it was time to move on so we crossed our fingers, said some prayers, and put it up on the market...

Sunrise Williamsburg Engagement Session | Williamsburg Wedding Photographer | Michael + Jessica

It's crazy to type this, but Michael and I have known each other since before either of us was dating anyone! We met at Virginia Tech and have been friends for years, through ups and downs and now stepping into marriage. He and Jessica met at the Tang Soo Do program there, but it wasn't until after I graduated that they became more than friends. But even though I hadn't met her in person until their engagement session, I already feel like I have known her just as long as her other half.

These two have been each other's rock through the past few years - from graduation to job changes to moving away from Virginia, the one thing they have had in common throughout this time has been their growing relationship. We celebrated their love on a beautiful day at sunrise in Williamsburg, from the colonial area to the Crim Dell Bridge at William and Mary's campus. And waking up in time for the sun to peek over the buildings and trees was worth every minute of sleep lost.

With their wedding just one short month away and the promise of forever on the horizon, these two hold a special place in my heart...and just wait until you see that sunrise!

The Burden of Opportunity | Monday Musings

The Burden of Opportunity | Monday Musings

Opportunity is a funny thing. The age-old adage is, "When opportunity knocks, answer the door!" Never is that more true than in my life since becoming an entrepreneur. When an opportunity presents itself that seems good for my business, I will almost always readily say yes - yes to a great experience, yes to more financial stability, yes to the next client who lights up my world.

I often feel the weight of the world on my shoulders as a solopreneur. Of course Nathan still has a full-time job so if something crazy happened with my business we would be well taken care of, but I have always been about proving myself. This started when I was little (any other middle children out there?!) and has continued to this day. I want to prove to the world that I can be successful. I want to prove to Nathan that I really do work hard when I am at home in yoga pants all day. And mostly, I want to prove to myself that the girl who was late every single day in high school is long gone, and instead has become a self-sufficient, independent, entrepreneur who will make her business work...
